Loading... Please wait...Native to the island of Madagascar, Lemurs are an interesting primarily nocturnal species with ghostly vocalizations and reflective eyes. They are social primates that communicate with scents and vocalization. Different species share the same forest by occupying varying diet niches consisting mainly of fruits and leaves. Lemurs colonized Madagascar via vegetation rafts riding on ocean currents. Once on the island they adapted to a wide variety of seasonal environments. Until 2,000 years ago there were species the size of a male gorilla. Today they remain a diverse clade with over 100 species.
